How to Pay for Dental Implants

A dental patient who does not want to pay cash for receiving implants will have to find the best way to finance the procedure. Some dentists have a financing plan that the patient can use. Depending on the interest rate for the financing plan, the patient may be better off using an outside source to pay for the dental implants.

  1. Discuss the cost of the dental implants with your dentist. Get a second opinion from another dentists if you want to compare the different prices. Consulting with a different dentist will also help you to confirm that you do need the implants.

  2. Find out if your insurance policy will cover the cost of the dental implants. Call your insurer and ask to speak with an agent. Have the agent review your current policy to see if you have coverage for all or part of the implant procedure. Write down the amount of any shortage so you know how much you need to finance.

  3. Ask your dentist if a financing plan is available for the amount that you need. Apply with the dentist’s lending source to see if you receive an approval for the financing. Review the loan terms to find out the interest rate and monthly payment. Write down the payment amount and check with a different lender to look for an alternative financing source

  4. Contact a bank or credit union in your area. Ask to speak with a consumer loan officer and complete a loan application. Find out the loan terms once you receive an approval. Ask the lender if you can get a discount on the interest rate by having the monthly payments automatically taken out of your checking account.

  5. Choose the lending source that has the lowest interest rate. Finalize the paperwork and set up a time with your dentist to have the implant procedure. Try to pay extra each month on the loan, to help save on the finance charges.
