How to Perform Usetsu in Ninjutsu
Ninjustu teaches hand-to-hand combat techniques that allows the person to defend and floor the opponent harmlessly. A ninja who practiced the techniques of Ninjustu would use these moves to escape his attacker. The move Usetsu, which is translated as "right turn," allows you to immbolize your opponent while he is trying to punch you and bring him to the floor and escape.
- Stand with your hands by your sides. The opponent will make a move to grab your shirt with his left hand to prepare for the punch that will occur with his right hand. The punch will be targeted to hit your face.
- Put your right hand over your opponent's left hand. Keep it to your chest. Sidestep to your right side as you see your opponent attempt his punch. Your left hand must move up at the same time of his punch and needs to grab your opponent's arm along the inside of his right elbow.
- Use your left hand and throw your opponent's right arm out to the side. You must simultaneously wrap the fingers of your right hand around his left fist. Turn his left hand up towards you to reveal the underside of his wrist and forearm.
- Move and turn your body to the right. Your left shoulder will be closest to your opponent. Using your left hand, grab your opponents left elbow and push it forward and up to make the joint of the elbow point upward above the level of his shoulder.
- Turn 90 degrees to your right and drop down on your left knee. Your upper body should twist in the same direction to guide your opponent's elbow around and down.
- Continue this motion and your opponent will be pulled backwards and he will release your shirt ending the Usetsu technique.
