How to Pick Paint Colors
Are you looking to paint the interior your home? Most people have an image of the paint color they want, but picking out colors is often confusing and difficult, especially if you head to a paint store. Paint stores have so many shades of one color that you will quickly become overwhelmed. Try the following when selecting paint colors.
- Before you can pick out a paint
color for any room in your home, you have to keep in mind that
colors have an impact and affect your mood. Think about walking
into a hospital to visit a friend, the walls are white, the floors
are white, and the lights are bright. It has a medicinal and cold
feel to it. No one feels warm and cozy in a hospital. - Now think of a time you went to
someone's home and felt very comfortable, you didn't feel like
leaving as soon as you walked in. The colors of the paint that were
used in the home probably had an affect on your feelings about your
visit. - The best way to pick your colors
for your home is to think about places that you currently visit that
make you feel relaxed or energized. Visit these places and have a
look at the colors on the walls. If you feel relaxed, chances are
you might find a shade of blue on the walls, but if you feel
energized you might find yellows or reds on the wall. - Check out some magazines that deal
with the home since these will show various rooms with different
paint. Look at the rooms and take the time to see how it makes you
feel. Obviously, you wouldn't want to paint your bedroom red, this
would be much too stimulating and energizing to promote sleep, but
it might work well in the dining room. Reds are best when they are
placed on just one wall rather than an entire room since it is so
powerful it can be too much for many people.
