How to Pick a Budget Hotel
If you are traveling on a budget two of the biggest expenses is lodging and eating. Budget hotels do not have to mean you settle for poor accommodations in an unsavory part of town. Finding less expensive hotels takes a bit of planning before you get to your destination city or town.
- Keep in mind that when
searching for budget hotels, you are likely to find the largest name
motels easily. The hotels owned by individuals are not often
advertised since their budget to market is smaller. Therefore, you
want to check for hotels that are both part of chains and
independently owned since often these can offer better
accommodations at a budget price. - Head to Google.com and
type in “Budget hotels destination city” you want to type in the
city or town you are planning to stay in. Then look at the results.
You will see chain hotels, but look for those that are not and just
have an address and phone number. Some of the smaller hotels may
have a website, but often they do not. - Call the budget hotels
that are less known and ask for some rates. In addition, find out
about their accommodations, what they offer with the rate. Make sure
they have maid service. Ask them if they change the linens after
each guest. Most people do not ask these questions, so when you do,
the hotel owner will be off-guard and often answer more truthfully. - Do look at the chain
budget hotels as well since these are often the best option in many
of the smaller towns and cities depending on your destination. Book
in advance to get an even better rate. As soon as you know you will
need the room either call to book it or book online if there is that
option because you can often get a better deal.
