How to Pick a Summer Dance Camp
Picking the right summer dance camp for a child requires a parent to do some research. The type of dance the child enjoys will usually determine the best camp to choose. Reviewing the activities schedule will help the parent decide whether or not to send the child to the camp.
- Ask your child’s dance instructor for a summer camp recommendation. If your child does not take lessons yet, look online to find different types of dance camps that are in your area. Review the camp options that are available to pick the right one for your child.
- Go over the activities schedule with your child. Once you find a camp that offers the type of dance your child likes, explain the various dance lessons to make sure you are making the right decision. You should also talk with your child about the right way to behave at camp.
- Find out the cost of summer dance camp. Some camps charge different amounts based on the age of the child. If the price is within your budget, complete the registration form to enroll your child in the camp.
- Consider a day camp if the cost is too expensive. With a day camp, your child will still participate in dance activities but will return home afterwards. If you decide to enroll your child in an overnight camp, it is a good idea to stop by and inspect the camp before classes start.
- Take your child to camp early to relieve any apprehension. You may also be nervous, especially if this is the first time your child has been away from home for an extended period. Introduce your child to the camp staff and find out where to unpack. Ask a staff member for the contact number to call in case you need to speak with your child while camp is in session.
