How to Pick a Trailer Park
If you are looking to buy into or rent a unit from a trailer park, there is some due diligence necessary to make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. Whether you're looking for a temporary or permanent home, there are some simple steps to take to make sure you will be happy living at a particular mobile home or trailer park.
- Take a tour of the mobile home park. When you are trying to just decide upon which mobile home park to live in, visit the park and get a feel for what the neighborhood is like. You do not want a place that is too noisy. Make a note of whether there is a perimeter wall around the entire Park. If there is a security guard manning the entrance, that is even better. Security should be a priority of whichever mobile home park you're contemplating living at.
- Interview the mobile home park managers. By interviewing the mobile home park managers, you can get a sense of how seriously they take their job. The safety, security and cleanliness of the park depend upon the active management of its caretakers. If you have any reservations about how trustworthy the mobile home park manager is, consider looking for a different place to live.
- See if the mobile home park provides furniture and appliances. Some mobile home parks will provide you with some basic furnishings, as well as appliances. Even if your prospective mobile home includes these items, it doesn't mean you have to accept them. If you want to buy new furniture or appliances, or use ones that you already have, talk to the mobile home Park manager to make sure there are no difficulties with refusing the included furnishings.
