How to Pick the Right Garden Tool Storage Solution

Picking the right storage for your garden tools will not only give you more space, it will also help to reduce the number of times you have to replace or repair your tools. Properly caring for and storing them is all too often ignored. It only takes a few simple storage solutions to change a dirty mess into a clean and organized area.

There are many great options for storing your garden tools; some of those will depend on where you plan to put your storage area. Consider what will work best for your situation. If you only have a few tools, wall space in your garage will work fine; if you are an avid gardener, a shed of large corner of your garage may be more suitable.

  • Decide where you storage area will be. It could be a garage, a shed or a patio.

  • Separate you tools into sections, large tools to hang, small hand tools, gloves, small items (such as tape, markers or metal pins), large machinery such as mowers, and edgers. If you have a large number of bigger items, you may need to consider a shed.

  • Consider your options: tool racks, shelves and hooks are all great ways to get tools up off the ground and organized in a nice neat manner. Also, look for baskets or buckets that make moving items from work area to storage easy and neat.

Once you have found the perfect solution for your tools, begin to purchase and install your storage solutions. Picking the right storage options will decrease the clutter in your space and help your yard work move along much quicker.
