How to Plant Bamboo

When many people think of the bamboo plant, China and other places in the Eastern culture comes to mind. This plant is unique and will make your yard look exotic when it is planted. The plant should have a barrier so it can grow properly.

Materials Needed

  • Paper

  • Pencil

  • Bamboo plants

  • Wood pieces

  • Shovel

  • Tiller

  • Rake

  • Mulch

  1. Draw a plan on paper. Determine how large you want the area to be. You will also need to determine how much barrier material and bamboo plants you will need. Measure the area where you will plant the bamboo. Take those measurements when you go purchase the bamboo plants so you will get the correct amount of plants.

  2. Use wood pieces to create a barrier. You can also choose any other types of barriers for the plants. The wood pieces should be 40 millimeters in thickness and 30 inches in width.

  3. Dig the area around the garden for the barriers using a shovel. Place the barriers into the ground and cover them with dirt. Make sure they are packed tight with the dirt.

  4. Use a tiller to till the soil inside the barrier. Spread about 7 inches of mulch over the entire area inside the barrier. Use a rake to mix the mulch and soil completely.

  5. Plant the bamboo beginning at one corner and working in a line to the next corner. Begin on the next row. Make sure you leave enough room between the plants. Dig a hole and place the bamboo plant in it. Pack the plant down with dirt using a shovel.

  6. Once the entire area is planted, water the plant thoroughly. You do not need to soak the area with too much water. The plants will need to be watered every day until they reach the size you desire.
