How to Plant a Raised Vegetable Garden

Planting a raised vegetable garden can be a unique experience for the whole family. There are many physical advantages to planting vegetables in a raised garden. Most importantly, raised gardens help you save space. You can be creative with the design of your raised garden.

Items Needed:

  • Vegetable seeds

  • Raised box

  • Soil

  • Gardening tools

  1. Purchase or build your raised garden bed. These beds can be created with very little money. If you buy one of these beds from someone else, then they may be a little more costly. Make sure the sides of your raised garden beds are strong enough to hold the soil and vegetables.

  2. Make a list of vegetables you would like to add to your raised garden bed. There are many vegetables you can choose from for your garden project. Purchase these seeds from a local garden store or online for an even bigger savings.

  3. Choose a spot for your raised garden bed. The space you choose must be accessible to you and also have plenty of sunshine capabilities.

  4. Prepare the soil for the garden. You can add fertilizer and manure to your garden, just as you would an in-the-ground garden. The richer the soil is, then the better your plants have at surviving.

  5. Start planting your vegetable seeds in the raised garden bed. Dig the holes a few inches deep so you have plenty of room to plant the seed. Put tags at the end of the garden so you can easily remember what was planted.
