How to Play Baseball

Baseball is one of America’s favorite pastime sports. Baseball may seem like an easy game to play, but it can be challenging. Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Sammy Sosa are legends and hall-of-famers. There are many general rules that you must know in order for the game to be a total success, but the only way to become a great baseball player is to practice.

1. Gather your team of players. Each team is allowed nine players and the game also includes a field of several empires, pitchers, batters, catchers, a mound, bases, an infield and outfield.

2. Assign the players to a particular position. For example: the player assigned to the pitcher’s position stands at the mound and the catcher needs to be placed behind the pitcher on the home plate. There should also be four players on the borders of the infield and three players on the outfield.

3. Start the game. Baseball games have nine innings and at every inning each team switches from batting to pitching. The duty of the pitcher is to throw the ball to the batter. If the batter missed three hits, he automatically strikes out. The batter’s objective is to hit the ball and touch all bases and home plate in order to score. Once the first batter has hit and touched the base, the next batter up has to do the same thing until all the players have made successful runs to the home plate.

4. Don’t foul. The batter should always try to hit the ball in the middle of the foul lines to avoid being fouled. The foul lines are always in the back behind the plates and behind the first and third bases.
