Materials Needed
- Bucket
- Warm water
- Mild liquid dish detergent
- Sponge
- Cloths
- Mineral oil
- Plastic bag
- Fill a bucket with warm water. Add six drops of mild liquid dish detergent to the bucket. Swish a sponge around the bucket. Use the sponge and cleaning solution to thoroughly clean the countertops.
- Pour out the cleaning solution. Rinse the bucket and sponge to remove all of the soap from the items. Fill the bucket with clean water. Use the water and sponge to rinse the countertops. Use a dry cloth to dry the countertops. Allow the surface to further dry by air.
- Apply mineral oil on a clean cloth. Wipe the countertops with the cloth. Work the mineral oil into the countertop using short circular motions. Make sure you cover the entire countertop.
- Change to a cotton cloth. Use the cloth to buff the surface to a shine using circular motions as you cover the surface of the countertops.
- Put the oil soaked cloth into a plastic bag and zip it up. The cloth will keep in the oil so you can use it the next time you polish the countertops. Avoid polishing the countertops too frequently because this can cause a buildup on the surface that can harm the skin and get on food.
