How to Polish a Brass Belt Buckle
Polishing a brass belt buckle is a commonly forgotten option in making a belt stand out. Taking the time to polish the brass buckle will make you and your clothes pop and look super sleek. Polishing a buckle requires just a few household items.
Items Needed:
- Several old cloths
- Ketchup
- Soapy water
- Brass polish
- Put a little squirt of ketchup onto a piece of old cloth and rub it into the brass belt buckle. Ketchup is a natural polisher and will help enhance the brass.
- Get soap and water, and wash the ketchup off the buckle.
- Take the brass polish and put some onto the belt buckle. Make sure to pick the right amount of polish. If the buckle is brass get a brass polisher. If the buckle is either sliver or another type of metal, get the polish for the type of metal. Put the polish onto the cloth and massage it into the buckle and remove it. It could take several times to get off all the tarnish, so be prepared to repeat this step several times.
- Take a dust cloth to buff the buckle. Buffing it makes it shiny. If you do not have a dust cloth a towel can work as well.
Tips:
- Only clean your brass belt buckle with ketchup, soap, water, and a brass polisher. Do not use any type of hard cleaner because it will tarnish and ruin the brass on the buckle and you will have to throw it out.
