How to Power Wash Kennels
Materials Needed
- Cloth
- Disinfectant
- Power washer
- Fans
- Take all of the items out of the area including the pet of course. Put items such as bowls and items that are not made of fabric in the area so they can be power washed also.
- Make sure all food is removed. Discard any food that is not going to be eaten by the pet.
- Wet a cloth and pour a small amount of disinfectant on it. Use the cloth to wipe down the inside and outside of the kennel to remove any encrusted food or spills.
- Make sure the kennel doors are opened. Always start in the back of the kennel and work your way towards the front to keep bacteria from being pushed to the back of the kennel where it can accumulate. Place a heavy item that cannot be removed in from of the kennel door.
- Fill the power washer with water and attach all nozzles. Make sure you read all instructions that came with the power washer to give the best cleaning. The nozzle should be at least 7 inches from the kennel when cleaning it. Use side-to-side motions as you clean from the back to the front of the kennel.
- Leave the kennel door open and allow the kennel to dry for several hours. Place fans in the area to quicken the drying process.
