How to Prepare for the Refrigeration Certification Test
Certified refrigeration technicians are always needed, typically among the restaurant or food industry. Each state has specific requirements for earning refrigeration certification. Enrolling in a technical school to become a refrigeration technician, studying and taking practice tests will help prepare for the refrigeration certification test.
How to Prepare For the Refrigeration Certification Test
- Apply for a job as an apprentice. Choose a well-qualified refrigeration technician that is also a patient teacher. It is required to have a minimum amount of hours before applying for certification. Keep all pay check stubs and any other employment records as proof of apprenticeship. The state might also require the licensed technician to sign papers indicating completion of required hours.
- Complete classes or studies the state requires before applying for certification. Locate technical schools in your area and take the right courses. This will help prepare you for the job as well as the certification test.
- When the apprenticeship is completed an application fee must be paid to take the certification test. Send the application and fee to the state agency. A notice will arrive in the mail stating that the test can be scheduled.
- Study for the certification test. Purchase a refrigeration certification study guide. The study guide can be purchased through the state as well as many bookstores.
- Visit websites that have practice exams online; take as many practice tests as needed. This is a great tool to help prepare you for the test. Notice your weak points once the practice test is completed and study those areas. Be aware that if the test is failed a new application and fee will be required and there can be a waiting period of up to one year before the certification test can be retaken.
- Schedule to take the test at a local testing center.
