How to Preserve Appliance Repair Manuals

Whenever you purchase a new appliance it is highly recommended that you put your manual in a safe place so you can locate it if necessary. Preserving the manual for future reference could end up saving you a lot of money on unnecessary service calls.

Preserving you appliance repair manuals is something you should do as soon as possible to ensure you can locate them when needed. This is something you can easily do in a matter of minutes by following a few simple steps.

  1. Purchase some plastic page protectors, a plastic three-ring binder and binder dividers with clear tabs and labels.  These supplies are all fairly inexpensive and can be purchased at your local office supply store.

  2. Use a paperclip to attach the warranty on the inside cover of the manual. This should be done because the warranty and the manual should stay together.

  3. Close the manual and slide it into one of plastic page protectors.

  4. Repeat the steps above for all your appliances.

  5. Use a marker to write the name of each of your appliances on one of the labels.

  6. Insert the label into the tab on the divider.

  7. Place one of the packets onto the ring of the binder and then place the coordinating divider tab on top of it.

  8. Continue on to place the other packets in the binder followed by the divider with the appropriate label.

  9. Place any unused page protectors and dividers in the back of the binder for future use.

  10. Place the binder in a file cabinet or drawer.
