How to Prevent Mold Growth in Bathroom Tiles

A bathroom provides ideal breeding conditions for mold. The wet, hot and most air make it relatively easy for mold to form if there is not proper air circulation in the bathroom. If mold has formed on the tiles in your bathroom, there is no need to worry. Removing and preventing mold from forming on bathroom tiles is a simple process.

  1. Remove any existing mold that has been allowed to form on your bathroom tiles using equal parts of vinegar and water that has been mixed in a standard spray bottle.

  2. Spray down the tile in your bathroom with this vinegar solution on a weekly basis to treat any mold that is forming, or prevent mold from forming on the surface of your bathroom tiles.

  3. Run the exhaust fan whenever anyone is taking a shower or bath to help remove the hot, moist air. You should leave the exhaust fan on for 15 minutes after the shower or bath is done so that all of the hot and humid air has been removed.

  4. Do not leave wet towels or clothes in the bathroom. Mold can easily form on fabrics that are wet and unable to dry thoroughly. This mold can release mold spores that can cause mold to form on other areas of your bathroom such as the bathroom tiles.

  5. Purchase a quality dehumidifier and place it in your bathroom. Running a dehumidifier in your bathroom will help to stabilize the humidity level in the bathroom which is the primary cause of mold.

  6. Wipe down the tiles in your bathroom as soon as they get wet. Do not allow water to stand on the surface of your tiles. Water that is allowed to stand on the surface of the tiles will lead to formation of mold and mildew.
