How to Price Cleaning Service Rates

If you are going to be starting your own cleaning service you need to determine how you will calculate the rates that you will charge for your services. Many things need to be taken into consideration so that your rates are fair and competitive, as well as profitable for your business such as the size of the house and the services that you will be performing.

  1. Determine how much you want to clear an hour for your services. This will help you determine what your overall rate should be.

  2. Decide how long you believe the job will take to complete. The amount of time that the job will take to finish is the most important factor in determining your overall rate quote for an individual job.

  3. Ask the customer if you are going to be doing a basic cleaning or a deep cleaning. You will also need to ask if they require any extra services to be done such as dishes, laundry or organizational projects such as closets or pantries.

  4. Research what the going rate for services in the customer's area is; you want to make sure that your rates are competitive with your competition. Consider the economic level of the area in which the house is located when deciding your rate quote for a home.

  5. Determine the distance the cleaning job is from your house or business. Calculate the mileage that you will need to drive both to and from the cleaning job. This will help you determine how much gas costs should be included in your price.

  6. Consider the pay of any employees who will be doing the job with you into your rate. Employees will be paid first, so be sure that you bid the job right so that it ends up profitable for you in the end.

  7. Calculate your rate once you have determined the price of other factors such as gas, special services and employee pay. Add up the rate per hour that you would like to make, the pay for each employee that will be doing the job with you, as well as the cost of gas, and other services the customer wants performed. The total of all of these factors is what the quote for the job should be.
