How to Price Lawncare
If you don't have the time or equipment to maintain your lawn, you may have to call in the professionals for some help. Pricing lawn care is mostly a matter of calling businesses for quotes, but there are some things you should consider before you pick up the phone.
- Determine what services you need performed. Although many people hire lawn care companies for their mowing services, these companies also provide weeding, cleanup, trimming and chemical treatment services. Also determine how often you will need these services performed. Lawn mowing can be a weekly or bi-weekly job, whereas chemical treatment is performed yearly or seasonally.
- Look at the national averages for these services. A weekly cut of one acre could cost you anywhere from $20 to $80, depending on your location, whereas trimming services can range from $100 to $200, depending on the area being trimmed. Chemical treatment costs the most out of all lawn care services, and can reach up to $400 to $700 per year.
- Write down your services needed and your area size. If you need lawn mowing services, find out how many acres you need mowed. If you need weeding or trimming, determine how many feet of beds or trees you need maintained.
- Call several local lawn care providers and ask for quotes. Use these quotes to gauge the price range for your location and possibly attempt to haggle a price. If one company gives a lower quote but can’t start working on your lawn for weeks, you can ask the company with a more open schedule to lower their price.
