How to Put Clothes in a Garment Bag
If you want to protect your clothing over a long period of time, you may want to consider using a garment bag to store you items. Garment bags protect clothing from different types of insects, moisture and residue while they are being stored.

- Select the clothing that you plan to store. They can be sweaters, blouses, shirts, pants or any other type of garments you plan to store.
- Wash all of your garments before putting them in the bag to store. Washing your items will prevent any type of residue that is already on your clothing from producing larvae. Eggs of insects can be the most dangerous to clothing items when storing them away.
- Purchase several different types of garment bags for your items. Be sure to purchase bags that seal tightly. For sweaters you may choose medium size to large bags. It really depends on how many items you want to go in your bag and the size of them.
- Use cedar chips, rosemary to put in your garment bags before putting your clothes in. This will prevent moths and other types of pests to get in the bag over a period of time.
- Put your fresh clothing in the garment bags and seal them tightly. Do this for each bag that you plan to put clothing in. You may want to mark each bag with the content of items that it holds. This will help you remember what clothing is located where.
- Store your garment bags away until you plan to use the items inside.
