How to Put Ear Drops In a Dog's Ears
If you have brought your dog to the veterinarian and they prescribed some ear drops for an ear infection, it can be extremely hard to put the drops in your dog's ear. You should get the drops in their ears as carefully and quickly as you can.
Materials needed:
- Dog
- Ear Drops
Hold your dog's head still. To make sure that the dog's head remains still when you are putting the medicine in your dog's ear, you should hold the dog's head still from below its mouth. This is extremely important to make sure that the medicine is applied properly. Insert the nozzle of the bottle of ear drops in the ear in a forward motion toward the tip of your dog's nose. Make sure that the dog's ear flap is laid back when you are doing this.
Keep holding your dog's head still as you did in step one. Take the bottle of ear drops out of your dog's ear. Place the dog's ear flap into the position it was before you started putting the ear drops in your dog's ear.
Massage your dog's ear. You should be using the palm of your hand to do this. Make sure that you are not hurting your dog when you are massaging the dog's ear. You should be massaging the dog's ear gently and firmly at the same time. Massaging your dog's ear is going to lubricate the dog's entire ear canal with the medication that you have just given them.
