Tips for Flower Bouquets

How to Put Together Bouquets of Flowers

Flower bouquets and arrangements look amazing and you might think that only a professional florist is qualified to put together a bouquet. However, it is not as hard as you have probably imagined putting a bouquet together. In fact, you can create a very professional looking arrangement with a few easy steps.

  1. Decide on the types of flowers you
want to have in your bouquet. Rather than having several different
types of flowers, choose one and make that the focal point. Then you
will place other flowers around it, but when others see your bouquet
they should see one dominating flower.

  2. After you have decided on your
flowers, you will then need to choose the greens. No flower
arrangement is complete without some greens such as ivy, fern, or
Camilla leaves. At this point you need to make a decision whether
you want the bouquet to have a splash of greens or a lot of greens.
A small amount of greens will give more attention to the flowers,
whereas a lot of greens will be the more dominating force in the
    arrangement.

  3. Take your flowers and your greens
and trim all the stems. This one of the most important steps because
making sure they are the right length rounds out the entire bouquet.
Flowers that will be in the center should be longer while stems that
will be around the center will be shorter. By trimming the flowers
carefully, you will have a round shape when you put them together,
which makes the bouquet look so fabulous.

  4. Begin putting all the flowers and
greens around the longest stemmed flowers, which will be in the
middle. If some of the flowers are too long when you are adding
them, trim the stem a bit more until all the flowers appear to be
fluid. Depending on the size of your bouquet, you need to secure the
stems that are cut to your specification and arrange them properly
using rubber bands. Continue grouping the flowers together and
banding them until you are left with a few banded groups, then you
can group these together making sure that the bouquet appears
rounded. Finish off by adding the arrangement to a vase or tie it in
    cellophane.
