How to Put a Line on Fly Fishing Reels
If you enjoy fly fishing, you will benefit from knowing how to put the line on your fly fishing reel if it should need replacement or encounter a problem. You can attach this line to your fly fishing reel easily by following a few simple steps.
- Gather all of your supplies and have them close for easy access while you are attaching the line to your fly fishing reel.
- Attach the fly reel to your fly fishing rod.
- Locate the stripping guide on your fly fishing rod and thread the backing down the first stripping guide located on the pole.
- Create a knot in your braided polyester fishing line and attach it to the pole, wrapping it through the look located on the end of the stripping guide.
- Add super glue to the knot you created in the fishing line to make the knot stronger and prevent it from becoming loose.
- Take your fly line and hold it to the rim of the spool and access how much space you are left with in the fly fishing line.
- Wind the fly fishing line until you fill the space that is left between the line and the spool of the pole.
- Carefully remove the tags that are attached to the fly fishing line and place them on the floor, within arm’s reach.
- Locate the tag that says reel end and thread the tag through the first stripping guide on the pole.
- Pull the line tightly and trim any excess ends of the line.
- Carefully wind the fly fishing line in and test the casting of the pole.
