How to Put on a Youth Athletic Support Cup
An athletic support cup is an important part of sports gear. It protects a person’s body from possible harm or injury during a practice or athletic event. There is a right way and a wrong way to wear an athletic support. Learning to wear it properly will help to protect you.
Items Needed:
- Underwear briefs
- Jockstrap
- Start naked and slip on briefs or boxer-briefs as underwear, because they stop the athletic cup from rubbing against the skin. If you have sensitive skin, first apply baby powder on your skin to help absorb moisture and stop the skin from chaffing.
- Put the jockstrap over the briefs. Adjust yourself inside the cup if necessary for comfort. The cup of the jockstrap should neither be too large or too small, because both can lead to complications. The cup should be in proportion to the rest of your body.
- Put on the rest of your athletic gear.
Tips:
- The jockstrap will only work and be supportive if the elastic band is not worn out. So, when the band does become worn, replace it with a new one.
- If you need to wear one during the winter, slip a pair of long-underwear underneath the athletic support cup to keep your warm.
- A athletic cup should be worn at all athletic events including practices to ensure protection of the body.
- Both boys and girls wear athletic cups to protect themselves from possible painful injuries and youth should be taught the importance of wearing one while playing sports.
