How to Reboot a Laptop
Laptops are portable, lightweight, and can resolve all your office needs with one piece of equipment. In order for systems and programs to run properly, a laptop may need to be refreshed. Rebooting a laptop will allow for all programs to refresh and install any updates that were not previously there. This also allows the systems to perform at their maximum level, giving you the efficiency of peak performance.
Power down the computer
Before rebooting it is necessary that the laptop is powered down, and that all systems have been closed. Depending on the nature of the reboot, you may not be able to close everything. Sometimes systems freeze and a system can get overloaded; in this case you more than likely will need a reboot.
Ctrl+Alt+Delete
In the event that a system has frozen, try pressing the Control + Alt + Delete keys simultaneously, or all at once. A pop-up screen should give you the option of closing the individual programs, or shutting down without saving. This method will be effective 99 percent of the time and resolve any problems that rebooting a computer can fix.
Restart
Depending on your computer’s operating system, a reboot may be as simple as locating the start button and restarting. If you cannot locate the start button, try holding down the power button. This will shut the system down completely. Give the laptop a few minutes to power down, then turn the computer back on by holding the power button again. If viable, it is still a necessary step to ensure that all important documents have been saved and all programs open have been closed.
