The 350 is a powerhouse motor and is in demand with Chevy enthusiasts. They are available at junkyards or scrap yards and the parts to rebuild the 350 are easy to get a hold of.
- Locate the lifters that are on the engine and let them soak in oil overnight or for at least 8 hours.
- Line up all of the nuts, bolts and new parts for the rebuilding process and also find the tools that will be needed or keep the toolbox close by.
- Install the piston rings in the pistons. Cheap piston rings can be found at local auto part stores.
- Install the pistons into the engine block. A ring compressor will make this process easy. If a ring compressor is not owned, rent one and this will save money and time.

- Coat the cam with STP oil treatment and install the camshaft.
- Install timing chain and timing chain cover.
- Install the lifters.

- Install the valve covers, and now the engine is ready to be placed in the vehicle.
- The other parts such as fuel pump and the carburetor can be placed on the engine after the engine is bolted in.
Rebuilding this engine in the above order will save time and money and is great for building a 350 on a budget.
