  • Palm sander

  • Painter’s tape

  • Epoxy primer

  • Paint stick

  1. Fill a bucket half way with warm water and add liquid dish soap to it to create a cleaning solution. Use a sponge and the cleaning solution to thoroughly clean the counters. Pour out the cleaning solution.

  2. Rinse the bucket and the sponge. Fill the bucket with warm water. Use the sponge and clean water to rinse the counters. Dry the counters with a cloth and allow the counter to completely dry.

  3. Apply 220 grit sandpaper on a palm sander. Sand the entire top of the counters to create an ideal surface for the primer to adhere to.

  4. Wet a sponge and wring it until it is damp. Wipe over the top of the counters to remove the particles left from sanding. Dry the surface with a cloth and allow the area to completely dry.

  5. Place painter’s tape along the area where the counter connects to the wall or the cabinets. Press on the tape to remove any bubbles.

  6. Open the epoxy primer and stir it with a paint stick. Use a paintbrush to apply the primer to all of the corners on the counter. Cover the entire counter with the primer. Allow the primer to dry according to the directions on the label.

  7. Remove the lid from the acrylic topcoat. Apply it in the same way you applied the primer. Allow the topcoat to dry according to the directions on the label. Allow the counters to dry for six days.
