How to Register With the Apple Store

There are several benefits to registering with the Apple store. First, it gives you the registration needed if your iPad or iPod is lost or stolen. It also allows you to get current promotions and other news directly from Apple. More importantly, registering an account with the Apple store will let you link a credit card to your device so you can download apps and music seamlessly.

Registering your product with the Apple store is a simple process that has many benefits. If your product is lost or becomes damaged, you’ll be covered under the warranty provided you registered. You’ll also get news and promotional offers before the rest of the general public. You can choose to link a credit card to your Apple account to allow you to download music, movies and apps.

  1. Have your product information in front of you. You’ll need the serial number and the date of purchase for the Apple product.

  2. Go to the Apple website and find the link for registration. If you’ve never been to the Apple site before you’ll need to set your language and location first.

  3. Enter the information on the registration page as asked. This is where you’ll need to plug in the serial number, date of purchase and price of the product.

  4. Create an Apple ID. You’ll need to set up a username and password for your Apple account. You’ll be asked for your birthdate, address, telephone number and email address.

  5. Add your credit card information if you want to be able to purchase various media. You can set up a one click option so you don’t need to go through several pop up boxes to make your purchases. When you purchase apps, music, or other media your card will be automatically charged.

  6. Skip the credit card process if you don’t want to link your account. You can pay cash for app store purchases by getting an Apple App store gift card. These can be purchased at most major retailers or at the Apple store itself. This lets you control your spending and not be shocked by a credit card bill at the end of the month.
