How to Register for GED Classes
GED classes offer students the opportunity to receive their general education diploma. This diploma gives students educational opportunities when they have not received their high school diploma. There are a few steps that must be taken in order to register for these courses.
Things You’ll Need:
- Local GED classes
- GED book
- Photo ID
- Locate a local education center that offers GED classes. These classes are free to register for, but you may be required to pay for the testing.
- Call the institution and get details on the classes. The classes are usually held a few days a week after school hours.
- Sign up for the classes at the school. These classes help you prepare for the general education test because they review all of the material that will be on the test.
- Get a GED book from your local library. These books can be expensive and are only used for a short time.
- Attend the classes when they are held until you feel confident in your ability to pass the test. The test is only offered once a month, so if you do not pass you’ll have to wait to retake the test until the next month.
- Register with the teacher for the next GED test.
- Bring you photo identification card to the testing site on the day of the test.
- Wait for your testing results in the mail.
- If you did not pass a section of the test, contact the GED teacher and register to retake that section of the test during the next testing period.
