How to Remodel a Country Bathroom
A country themed bathroom can be very calming and relaxing. Whenever you are considering remodeling your bathroom in this fashion you will want to think about the colors that are found in nature. You will also want to have some basic carpentry skills and plenty of time available so that you can get the job done right.
- Paint two walls in your bathroom with brown interior paint. This will make them look like the wood that is found in nature.
- Purchase brown brick-like paneling for your other two walls. Use liquid nails and paneling nails to hang the paneling. Apply liquid nails to the back of the paneling and gently press it into place. Use a hammer and nails to secure it into place.
- Use a chalk line to locate the center of your bathroom floor. Snap the chalk line from north to south and from east to west to create an “X.” The center of the “X” is the center of your bathroom floor. Start laying ceramic tiles here. Arrange the tiles without securing them in place to ensure that you have them arranged as you like them. Follow the directions on the thinset to start securing the tiles in place. Apply grout between the tiles. Allow everything to dry thoroughly.
- Paint the top of the bathroom’s vanity white and the bottom brown. Allow the pain to dry.
- Remove the current light fixture and install a rustic chandelier. Make sure to turn off the power before you start. Unscrew the screws that are holding the light in place and untwist the color-coded wires. Connect these wires to your new chandelier and then use the screws to secure it in place. Turn the power back on and make sure that your new chandelier works.
- Put a bamboo chair in the corner of your bathroom if you have enough room. This will give the corners a nice, new look.
- Use nails and a hammer to hang wire baskets on your walls next to the sink and shower so that you have somewhere for the towels you will need. You can also place shampoo, conditioner, body wash and washcloths in these baskets.
- Put down some brown or white rugs to compliment your walls and vanity. These rugs should go near your bathtub, vanity and toilet.
