How to Remove Bats From Barns
In cases of owning a barn, there are probably experiences of bats in it at some point. Bats are frequently a part of farm life. They are usually harmless, but can be creepy and sometimes dangerous if contracted with rabies. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to get rid of them.
1. Don't attempt to get rid of bats during the late spring or summer. They raise their young from May through September. Attempting to evict bats during these months may mean the babies get trapped inside the barn.
2. Figure out how they are getting in and out of the barn. Watch at dusk for several nights in order to find the entrance points. Bats can enter through a space as small as half an inch wide.
3. Next, create one way doors for these areas so bats can get out, but can't get back in. Attach screening materials to the outside of a smooth wall, leaving the bottom loose for bats to crawl through. If the whole is round, insert a PVC pipe flush to the interior wall.
4. Once all of the bats are out and are unable to come back in, seal off all of their access points for good.
5. Sealing up all possible entry points into the barn will be a never ending challenge. Consider giving bats a more attractive roosting alternative to keep them out and away. Purchase bat houses and post them on high posts away from the barn. Hopefully the bats will begin using these and forget all about it.
