How to Remove Diesel Oil From Hair
Diesel oil can be an extremely difficult oil to remove from a person's hair. Like other oils, this can require an intense cleaning product along with several repetitions of the process to full remove the diesel oil from the hair.
- Purchase a clarifying shampoo from a local beauty supply store. Be sure that this shampoo includes ingredients that strip the oils and other accumulating debris form the hair such as ammonium.
- Protect the eyes when preparing to wash the hair. A towel or washcloth securely placed over the eye area should be sufficient so long as a hand the entire time the hair is being washed and rinsed holds it securely on.
- Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water for about three minutes. This should be done over a sink or a tub, which will allow the hair to be rinsed without getting the body wet.
- Massage hair with hands and fingers to remove the residue from the oils that have been left behind on the hair. This will help to release the debris completely before and during the wash.
- Wash hair with the shampoo using a dime size for short hair, and up to a quarter size of shampoo for longer hair. Work the shampoo through the hair evenly so that it can remove the diesel oil from the hair. Bring the shampoo to lather on the entire area of hair that is being washed. This will help to activate the shampoo ingredients, and the hair will become cleaned.
- Rinse the clarifying shampoo out of the hair. Be sure to work the shampoo out by using many fingers and working the shampoo downwards towards the end of the hair until all of the shampoo is removed.
- Repeat steps 3-6 again to remove any residual diesel oil that were not removed with the first wash.
- Applying a deep moisturizing conditioner to avoid the hair from becoming dry from the clarifying shampoo. It may be wise to leave the conditioner in the hair for at least five minutes.
- Rinse hair completely.
