How to Remove Oil Paint From Cement

Garages, driveways and walkways are commonly made of concrete. The concrete can easily absorb oil paint into its pores when it is accidentally spilled. If the stain is fresh, you can easily remove it with sawdust or cat litter. Once the oil paint dries, you must use a different process to remove it from deep within the pores.

How to Remove Oil Paint From Cement

1. Wear goggles to protect your eyes and rubber gloves to protect your hands. Put on a mask with a respirator to avoid inhaling the strong fumes.

2. Pour 2 cups of paint stripper into a plastic bucket. Add baby powder to the paint stripper and mix it until it becomes a thick paste.

3. Apply the paste to the cement until it is about a half inch thick.

4. Allow the paste to sit on the cement for 20 minutes.

5. Use a paint scraper to scrape off the paste.

6. Pour water over the cement to rinse away debris. Sprinkle a cleansing powder over the cement. You can use Ajax or Comet.

7. Scrub the cement with a nylon scrub brush. This will allow the cleaner to penetrate the cement pores. Use a garden hose to rinse the cleaner off. Repeat the steps until all of the oil paint has been removed.
