How to Remove Plaque
When plaque forms it is more than just an unsightly nuisance; it can damage your teeth and gums over time. Plaque can also harden into tartar, which is extremely difficult to remove. To avoid future dental problems, including an expensive visit with the dentist, it is necessary to know how to remove plaque from your teeth.
- Floss your teeth after every meal. Use dental tooth floss or any thin and sterile thread. Scrub the sides of your teeth with the floss, but don't grind the floss against your gums or bleeding may occur.
- Brush your teeth for at least two minutes. Replace worn toothbrushes with newer ones every three months. Brush in small circles on the front and back of each tooth and be sure to reach the ones in the back of your mouth as well.
- Supplement your flossing and brushing with gargling mouthwash that is rated to kill plaque.
- Chew sugarless gum for half an hour. Your saliva will help to neutralize the acid generated by plaque that can damage your teeth.
