How to Remove Stains from White Athletic Pants

The white athletic pants that many sports players wear are created with polyester material. This type of material is easy to care for and lasts a long time, but can become very stained after a game. These stains can seem hard to remove, but it can be done.

Materials Needed

  • Towel

  • Scrub brush

  • Stain remover

  • Washing machine

  • Detergent

  • Hanger

  • Clothespins

  1. Place a towel on a flat surface. Spread the pants on the towel with the stain facing up. Apply a small amount of stain remover to a scrub brush. Rub the remover into the stain with the scrub brush. Allow the remover to sit on the stain for 1 hour.

  2. Read the care label for the uniform. It is better to use cold water on the pants and set the machine on the longer wash time. Add detergent to the machine and allow it to fill up. Allow the washer to swish the detergent around in the water for about 20 seconds. Add the white athletic pants to the washer and allow them to wash during the complete cycle.

  3. Remove the pants from the washer. Inspect the pants for stains. You should not dry the pants until the stain is completely removed because drying will set the stain. Proceed to the next step if the stain remains.

  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 until the stain is removed. Once the stain is removed, attach the pants to a hanger with clothespins and allow them to completely dry by air.
