How to Remove Waxing Residue From Skin

Wax, left behind from a home waxing treatment or by accidentally spilling candle wax on your skin, can sometimes leave a residue even after peeling the wax off once it dries. The residue is easy to remove with products you have at home.

Items Needed:

  • Baby oil

  • Microwaveable bowl

  • Cotton balls

  • Clean cloth

  • Rubbing alcohol

  1. Warm the baby oil by pouring a small amount (1/4 cup or so) into a microwave-safe bowl and cooking it in the microwave until warmed through. It might take between 10 and 30 seconds to become warmed through. This depends on the amount of oil you are warming.

  2. Dip a cotton ball into the warmed oil, and rub it on your skin over the wax residue until the area with wax is completely covered in baby oil.

  3. Wet your clean cloth with warm water, and rub it over the baby oil in a circular motion; this step will remove the baby oil and remove the wax residue as the oil begins to pick up the residue. Once the residue is removed, rinse your cloth, and rub it over your skin until all traces of oil are gone.

  4. Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball if you do not have baby oil at home. The rubbing alcohol is just as effective as baby oil but will not leave your skin moisturized as the baby oil will, and it might cause irritation. Cover the wax residue with the rubbing alcohol. Wait a few seconds to let it soak in and pick up the residue.

  5. Remove the rubbing alcohol and residue from your skin by wetting a cloth with warm water and rubbing it over the area in a circular motion.
