How to Remove a 1999 BMW 328I Fog Light

Fog lights are an important part of the lighting system of any vehicle and the 1999 BMW 328I is no exception. When the conditions outside are foggy or rainy, these lights allow the driver to have a clearer view of where they are going. Should you need to replace them on your vehicle, you can easily do so by following a few short steps.

What You'll Need:

  • Towel

  • Long, thin screwdriver or similar shaped tool

  1. Open the front hood of your 1999 BMW 328I.

  2. Locate the back of the fog light located on the bottom of the engine side. You'll have fog lights installed on the front left and right side of your vehicle.

  3. Look for a small black colored release clip. It should be located on the back of the fog light housing, also known as fog light assembly.

  4. Pay particular attention to the exact location of the release clip before you remove the fog light from the vehicle. You'll need to know exactly where and how to place the replacement fog light when you reinstall it.

  5. Next, locate the hole that is directly next to the fog light, this is the position where you will insert the screwdriver or other similar tool.

  6. Position a towel below the fog light in cause it falls from beneath the vehicle and you are unable to catch it. Look through the engine compartment and insert the screwdriver or other tool and slide it inside the hole inside the bumper until it is pressed against the clip.

  7. Firmly press on the clip with the tool to remove it. However, don't use too much force to avoid breaking the clip. Once removed, take out the fog light.

  8. Disconnect any wires that are connected to the fog light or fog light assembly.
