How to Remove and Install a Sliding Screen Door
If you have a sliding glass door in your home, you will need to also have a sliding screen door to keep the bugs and other debris out of your home while still allowing the fresh air in on nice days. Installing a sliding screen door is easy, and can be done in no time with a few basic tools.
- Locate the screws that are holding the rollers on the bottom of your existing screen door in place.
- Remove the small screws that are holding these rollers in place using a standard Phillips screwdriver.
- Hold the door with one hand on either side of the door and lift up on it so that the bottom rollers are lifted up and out of the track on the bottom of the sliding screen door.
- Pull the sliding screen door towards you once the bottom rollers are out of the track. Lift out from the bottom of the door and then gently pull down to release the rollers that are inserted on the top part of the track.
- Remove the old sliding screen door and dispose of it. You are now ready to install your new sliding screen door.
- Pick up the new sliding screen door with one hand on either side and place the rollers on the top into the track at the top of your door. Be sure that the handle on the door is facing in the right directions before you begin your installation of the new sliding screen door.
- Gently lift up on the door so that the rollers are locked into place on the top of the sliding screen door you are installing.
- Lower the bottom part of the door towards the bottom of the track and gently lift up on the door until the bottom rollers are able to be inserted into the bottom part of the sliding screen doors track.
