Leaking pipes can provide the perfect environment for mold to grow. When you located mold in your home, it is important to follow specific guidelines to protect yourself.

  1. Seal off the
area where the mold is located with a heavy plastic. Tape the
plastic with tape to create a seal that the mold spores cannot
    penetrate.

  2. Always wear
protective gear when repairing mold. This includes gloves, safety
goggles, and a mask. Mold spores are released when repairing, and
breathing in the spore is dangerous to your health.

the mold from the affected area without moistening the mold
    slightly.

  4. Clean the area
with soap and water using caution not to smear the mold on new
    surfaces in the effected room.

  5. Add one cup of
bleach to one gallon of water. Spray the area with the mixture and
allow it to penetrate the surface for about 10 minutes.

  6. Dry the
affected area to protect from future mold growth.

  7. Depending on
the size and severity of the mold damage, you could have to cut out
part of the drywall or cabinet to remove all of the mold. If this
situation does arise contact a professional to remove the mold if
you are not experienced in the process.
