How to Repair Black Mold

If you find black mold in your home, it is very important that you take the steps to get rid of it immediately. You can repair black mold in your home in many different ways, and it is simple to do. Once you have black mold, it can spread, so you should follow these steps as soon as possible.

  1. Buy a dehumidifier for your home. You can purchase a dehumidifier at most supply stores. Follow the instructions on the unit and set it up in your home. Turn the dehumidifier on and run it in your home. This will help remove moisture from the air. Do not forget to change the water in the dehumidifier, or mold will start growing in it.

  2. Look for any water leaks you may have in your home. If you find any, fix them immediately. Mold loves water and can grow around it very easily.

  3. Put on some rubber gloves. Mix together water and bleach mixture in a large bucket. Put 8 cups of hot water to 1 cup of bleach. Put the solution in a spray bottle. Apply it to the mold you find in your home. Allow the solution to sit on the mold for 10 minutes, and then use a rag to wipe the surface down until the mold is gone. If it is especially moldy, you may need to use a scrubber to remove the mold.

  4. Remove the gloves from your hands and throw them away. Throw everything else away, except for the bucket that you used to remove the mold.

  5. Remove carpeting, furniture, or upholstery that has black mold. You will not be able to remove the mold from these items completely.

  6. Purchase a strong black mold remover at a home supply store if the bleach solution is not working. They do make cleaners especially made to remove black mold.
