Repair Water Rings on Wood Furniture
- Remove water rings on wood furniture by rubbing orange or lemon oil onto the ring with a soft cloth. Let the oil sit on the water ring for 24 hours. Remove the oil with another clean cloth. If the ring is not fully removed, repeat the process again.
- Lay a thick towel on top of the water ring, and then put an iron set to warm on the towel right over the water ring. Move the iron around on the towel over the water ring for a few seconds. Remove the towel and the water ring should be gone. If it is not, repeat the process again until the water ring is removed.
- Put mayonnaise on the water ring, and then rub the mayonnaise into the water ring in a circular motion using a soft cloth. Remove the excess mayonnaise when the water ring has been removed with a clean cloth.
- Put toothpaste on the water ring, and then rub it on the water ring using a clean cloth in a circular motion. Remove the excess toothpaste when the water ring disappears.
Repair Wood Furniture Coming Apart Due to Water Damage
- Wait for the wood furniture to completely dry before you try to repair it. This may take some time, depending upon how wet it is. Once it is dry, remove any drawers, handles, doors, or legs from the furniture.
- Clean off any dirt or mud that has dried on the furniture using a soft bristled brush, and then use a damp cloth to wipe it off completely.
- Remove the loose wood joints that have water damage. Use wood glue to glue them back onto the furniture. Hold it together until it is dry enough to hold in place.
