How to Repair an Engine Block Crack
Discovering a crack in the engine block of your car can be costly if the problem is not taken care of promptly. If the crack is minor and caught before it gets too large, it can be repaired without using the services of a professional mechanic to fix it for you.
How to Repair an Engine Block Crack
Allow the engine of the car to cool completely before attempting to repair the crack.
After locating the crack on the engine block, put on some gloves and apply some epoxy to the crack. Use your fingers along with a putty knife to properly spread the epoxy over the entire surface of the crack. To ensure that the crack is completely sealed, apply some epoxy at least 1" on both sides of the crack.
Use sand paper to sand the putty down. This is done to ensure that the putty is not rough on the engine block.
The engine block should be checked regularly to make sure that the crack does not reappear.
