How to Replace Andersen Window Screens
Anderson window screens may need to be replaced if they have become damaged or worn over time. This can be done fairly easily as long as you have new screen material and a roller tool to place your spine back into place.
Things You'll Need:
- Screwdriver
- Screen material
- Scissors
- Screen roller tool
- Utility knife
- Remove the screen that you would like to replace from your window. This can be done by loosening the metal clips from your window frame that keep the screen in place and pulling the screen out.
- Place your screen on a flat surface and remove the rubber spline holding the screen in the frame. Use a screwdriver to pull up this piece at one corner and bring up the spline in one piece.
- Remove the screen that you want to replace and throw it in the trash. Lay a new piece of screen on the frame and trim it with a pair of scissors making sure that it is slightly larger than the screen area.
- Place your new piece of screen on the frame making sure that it is centered correctly. Use a screen roller tool to push the rubber piece back into the screen frame making sure that the screen is tight as you go. Begin at one corner and push the rubber piece into the groove the entire length of the screen frame.
- Inspect the screen that you have placed in the frame making sure that it is tight and that the spline is placed correctly. Use a utility knife to trim any excess screen material that is hanging outside of the rubber spline.
- Replace your screen inside your window and tighten clips to make sure that the screen is placed back into place correctly.
