How to Replace an Andersen Patio Door Screen Wheel
Replacing your Anderson screen door wheel assembly isn’t exactly difficult, but it can be tricky. However, with a little time, patience and perseverance, even the most stubborn assemblies can be removed and replaced. You may want to have a friend or spouse near, just in case you require the assistance of a second set of hands.
- Buy your replacement assembly and have it on hand. Replacement wheels are readily available at your local hardware supply store. Locate and inform a qualified hardware associate of the specifics of particular make and model your particular make and model and they can assist you in locating your replacement wheel.
- Remove the old or damaged roller assembly. The trickiest portion of the replacement process is typically the removal of the actual broken roller itself. Because the wheel assembly is both installed and removed via a hole in the bottom of the screen door frame, you must remove the damaged wheel via the clips one the sides of the roller. Squeeze these clips and carefully remove the old or damaged assembly from the doorframe. If your assembly proves to be particularly stubborn it may in fact become necessary to break the clips holding the actual assembly. This can make it much easier to pull the old or damaged roller out.
- Install your new roller. Installing the new roller assembly is done by working the new roller into the doorframe whilst rotating in order to fit the adjusting bar into place. The new roller will snap in when pushed into the doorframe. Once snapped into place, use a screwdriver to adjust the overall wheel height via the adjusting bar.
