How to Restore Old Wedding Cake Toppers

After the wedding is over, what are leftover are wedding cake toppers that are sentimental. You could have also inherited them from someone in the family. No matter which way you received them, you want to keep them in good shape to give to others in your family when they become damaged.

Materials Needed
- Duster
- Bowl
- Mild liquid detergent
- Cotton swabs
- Cotton ball
- Paper towels
- Epoxy
- Acrylic paint
- Fine tipped paintbrush
- Jewels or lace
- Glue
- Dust the wedding cake toppers with a duster to remove any loose dust or dirt from the surface. This will help remove the accumulated dust from storage and help the cleaning process go much easier.
- Fill a bowl with water and add a few drops of mild liquid dish detergent. Dip a cotton swab into the liquids and use it to clean dirt from the topper. The cotton swab will get into the cracks and crevices. Use a cotton ball dipped in the cleaning solution to clean the other parts of the topper.
- Pour the cleaning solution out of the bowl and fill it with fresh water. Use a cotton ball dipped in the water to rinse the wedding cake topper. Dry the topper with a paper towel.
- Spread a paper towel on a flat surface and place the topper on it. Allow the topper to dry by air.

- Scan the topper for chips or cracks. Take a cotton swap and scoop up some epoxy with it. Spread the epoxy into any cracks or chips you find. Allow the epoxy to dry for one hour. Use fine grit sandpaper to sand down the epoxy.
- Look over the topper for places where the paint has come off. Select an acrylic paint that matches the color on your topper or mix different acrylic paints until you find the right color. Use a paintbrush with a fine tip to paint the topper. Allow the wedding cake topper to dry for several hours.
- If your topper is missing jewels or lace, you can glue those items back on. Use a hot glue gun to attach those pieces and allow the glue to dry.
