How to Restore Ping Golf Irons

Ping golf irons are known for being dependable and long-lasting. Like any other set of golf irons, they require routine care and maintenance. If your set of Ping golf irons are becoming old and worn, you can bring back their shine by taking the time to restore them.

Items Needed:

  • Soft cotton cloth

  • Mild soap

  • Water

  • Bucket

  • Wire brush

  • Groove sharpening tool

  • Golf iron paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Light sandpaper

  • Polishing cloth

  1. Thoroughly clean your Ping golf irons. Combine mild soap and warm water in a bucket. Soak a soft cotton cloth in the soap mixture and wipe away any dirt and debris from the surface of the golf irons. Use a wire brush to scrub the grooves on the golf irons and putting wedges. Wipe the surface again to remove any new dirt that was loosened by the brush.

  2. Restore the grooves on the golf irons. Use the groove sharpening tool to remove any dents or dings and to even out the edges of the grooves. Use light, consistent pressure and even strokes to sharpen the grooves evenly.

  3. Use a soft polishing cloth to buff the sole of the golf irons.

  4. Touch up any spots where the paint is chipped or damaged by applying a thin, even coat of metal-adherent paint. This paint can be purchased from golf supply stores.

  5. Allow adequate time for the paint to dry thoroughly. If you notice any drips, uneven spots or missed details, use a light sandpaper to touch up the area and then apply a second thin coat of paint to the iron.
