How to Save Money At Car Dealerships
Saving some money at a car dealership is often a matter of timing. Waiting for special sales or other incentives to occur is an easy way to save money on a car purchase. Having good negotiating skills can help a buyer to get a vehicle for a good price, no matter what time of the year it is.
- Find the value of the vehicle you want to buy so you do not overpay. Go online and find a car valuation website. Search through the website to find the car you want to buy and print the valuation report. Try to buy the car for as close to the lowest value on the report as possible, in order to get the best deal.
- Buy a car on the last day of the month to try and save money. Car dealers have monthly sales quotas to meet, so as the month winds down they are more willing to negotiate a lower purchase price with a buyer. Go early in the morning on the final day of the month to avoid missing out on a possible deal.
- Shop for cars when the next year’s models come out. Car dealers need to make room on their lot for new models, so they must sell the older models, often for an amount that is much lower than the price on the sticker. Look online to find out when a car you like is releasing the next model year.
- Wait to buy a vehicle until you see a special flyer in the newspaper. Dealers often have sales or other discounts around the holidays to help them bring traffic onto their lot. Look for a car you want in the flyer and see if you can negotiate with the dealer to get an even lower price.
- Consider buying a used car instead of a new one. Car dealers often have specials for used cars that they have had in their inventory for a long time. Find the value of the car and make a low purchase offer.
