How to Save Money Hiring a Live Band for a Wedding

It is possible to save some money on a live band for a wedding by hiring one that is willing to negotiate the price. Some bands that are relatively new are more willing to drop the price. Comparing different live bands is the best way to find one to try and hire.

  1. Review your wedding expenses to see how much you have to spend on a live band. Research different bands in your area to find out which ones play at weddings. Find out what type of music the band plays in order to determine if they are right for your wedding.

  2. Narrow down your choices to the two best live bands. Find out where to hear the bands play or contact each of the bands' managers and arrange to hear the bands play live. Once you hear both of the bands play, you should be able to determine if you want to hire one of them.

  3. Make an offer to your preferred choice to see if you can hire the band for your price. If the band’s manager comes back with a counteroffer, decide whether to negotiate or to contact the other band on your list. Tell the manager that you will be back in touch and then contact the other band.

  4. Offer the second band the same price you gave to the first band. If the manager counteroffers you should go ahead and negotiate to see if you can get a better price. If the manager accepts your price you can either hire the band or make the first band another offer.

  5. Decide which band to hire and sign the paperwork to reserve them for your wedding. Contact the band you do not hire and thank them for performing for you. Stay in touch with the band that you hire until your wedding day arrives.
