How to Sell Major Appliances

If you have purchased appliances in the past you know that it is a big investment. With the many advances in major appliances many seek to replace their old appliances, even if they are in perfect working order. Fortunately, you can sell your appliances to someone that may need them, which will help you to pay for your new appliances.

  1. Type an ad giving a description of
your appliances and the prices and place it in your local newspaper.
Many people still use the classifieds to find products to purchase,
so make sure your ad is accurate and list how old the appliances
are, the features, the color, and if there are any flaws.

  2. Use online classifieds such as
Craigslist. Place the ad in the city in which you live. Again,
provide a solid description along features and problems. List a
price. If you are willing to negotiate on the price, then place it
this way, “$900 OBO” that way the buyer knows that they might be
able to get a better deal than you are asking. If you do not want to
haggle on price, place the ad this way, “$900 firm” which tells
the buyer you are not coming down off the price.

  3. Take a weekend and have a garage
sale. You will want to make sure that you can plug in the appliances
so that a potential buyer can see that it works. It may be best to
leave it in your home plugged in, if you have a way that people
could come in without disturbing anything else. Keep in mind that at
a garage sale, people expect you to haggle price, so start off at
the price you really want. This will leave you negotiating room.
