How to Sell Used Camera Equipment

Selling a used camera is a way for the owner to make some money on the old equipment. The owner should use a variety of methods to try and find a buyer for the equipment. Determining the right price to ask will require the owner to do some research at used camera stores or by searching online.

  • Test your used camera equipment to see if it works properly. Have the equipment fixed if necessary, so you can ask a buyer to pay more. Decide how much to ask for your camera and then start looking for a buyer.

  • Put your camera equipment up for sale in the town newspaper. Describe the type of camera that you have for sale and include the condition of the equipment in the ad. Call the paper’s ad department if you need help with the wording to use in your listing.

  • Look in the Yellow Pages to find a used camera store. Contact the store and ask to speak with the manager. Find out if the manger has any interest in buying your particular brand of camera equipment. Take your gear by the store if the manager wants to take a look at it.

  • Use an online auction to find a buyer for your camera. Check the existing auctions on the website to help you choose the best wording for your camera listing. Set the minimum purchase price for your equipment and follow along with the auction to see if you get a good bid.

  • Find a website that buys used cameras to try and sell your equipment. Contact the person in charge of the website and discuss the equipment that you have for sale. If you get an offer, decide whether to take it or to continue looking to try and get a better price. Arrange to ship your camera if you decide to accept the offer.
