How to Set Audio for HDMI Cable
HDMI cables are used to connect televisions to other devices such as cable boxes or computers. The cable delivers the video and audio aspects of the show. HDMI cables can be used to connect speakers or an entire surround sound system to a television.
Items Needed:
- AV receiver
- HDMI cable
- Locate the HDMI input port on the back of the AV receiver. It will look like a small flat port, similar to a USB port.
- Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the port. Press it in gently but firmly to connect it securely.
- Connect the other end of the HDMI cables into the output port of your HD television or home theater system.
- Turn on the AV receiver. Locate the button that is labeled "Surround Sound" and press it. If the receiver does not have any buttons, use the remote instead. If you are not using a surround sound system, use the remote to choose which speaker you want the sounds to come from. You can also choose to use all the speakers.
- Use the knobs on the receiver or buttons on the remote to adjust the volume and sound settings of each speaker. If you are using surround sound, you can simultaneously adjust all the speakers to make the settings the same, or you can separately adjust each speaker to add more volume to one speaker or to one side of the room. Adjust the subwoofer last. It will be labeled, and it has a separate button or knob from the speakers.
